The arrival of international tourists to the country and visits to tourist sites exceeded the expectations projected for the 2024 Easter holiday season.
“Thanks to the implementation of President Bukele's security plan, tourism is being a fundamental pillar for the national economy,” said Minister Morena Valdez in the presentation of the balance of the Summer 2024 Plan.
Through the different land and air borders, 132 thousand international visitors were received in the country until Sunday, March 31. This represents an increase of 29% compared to the same period in 2023.
In addition, international tourism generated $106 million in foreign currency during these March holidays. Tourists came from countries such as Guatemala (36%), the United States (29%), Honduras (21%) and the rest of the world (14%).
